# metadata

Metadata of a file by ID. Rejects with `FileNotFoundError` when unknown.

```typescript theme={null}
RemoteFileStorage.metadata(fileId: string): Promise<SessionFile>;
```

## Parameters

<ParamField body="fileId" type={"string"} required>
  ID of a file belonging to this session.
</ParamField>

## Returns

```typescript theme={null}
Promise<SessionFile>
```

The matching file's metadata.

## Raises

* NotteAPIError if the storage API request fails.
* FileNotFoundError if the file ID is unknown or expired.
* InvalidRequestError if storage has not been bound to a session.
