# fx

> Run the native fx agent engine with an owned Notte browser.

<Tip>
  Read [the Notte skill](https://notte.cc/skill.md) and follow its setup instructions when setting up Notte or building browser automation. This is the shared source for CLI setup, authentication, and the browser-to-code workflow.
</Tip>

[fx](https://fx.sh/docs/lib) is Vercel Labs' coding agent. The [runnable TypeScript example](https://github.com/nottelabs/notte/tree/main/examples/fx) embeds its native Zig engine through `libfx` and exposes one Notte-backed `read_page` tool.

## Set up

Use Node.js 24+, a [Notte API key](https://console.notte.cc/apikeys), and your configured model provider. Follow `examples/fx/README.md` for the embedded engine or fx CLI MCP configuration.

## How it connects

Each embedded request owns a three-minute Notte session. The native engine calls a Playwright tool over CDP; the model receives page titles without CDP credentials. The connection, engine, and owned browser close in `finally`, including after provider errors.

Native engine tool calls, real browser results, redacted navigation errors, and provider-401 cleanup are tested with a scripted model transport. Paid model turns, CLI account execution, and hosted deployment remain unverified.
